Steve Daley had a great career as a pro footballer, starting at Wolves as a 15 year old, making his professional debut in 1971.
During his 8 year spell with the west midlands club, Steve Daley made 212 appearances and scored 38 goalsSteve won a League Cup winners medal with Wolves in 1974 and played in their run through to the 1972 UEFA Cup Final, scoring a vital goal in the semi final against Ferencváros inside the first minute.
He was an ever-present in the 1976–77 season, scoring 13 goals, and a further eight the following season saw him receive an England ‘B’ call up.
Steve played six times for the ‘B’ side during 1978, scoring twice (against Singapore and Czechoslovakia ‘B’).
Steve Daley transfered to Manchester City for a british record fee of £1.4Million in 1979, spending 2 seasons at maine Road, with further spells at Seattle Sounders, Burnley and San Diego Sockers, Steve ended his professiional playing days at Walsall in 1986
